Yusef was awake! And raring to go! He waddled out of the den, legs longer and sturdier now, though he was still a little unsteady on his feet. His belly rumbled--one dead bird was not enough to keep him eternally fed, so it was time to begin the food search. He narrowed his eyes and made his way free from the confines of the den, puffing out his chest in prepartion for a valiant struggle that would soon ensue. Nealy three months of age now, he was beginning to grow into himself and those pale blue eyes were slowly beginning to shift shades into a deep violet. Having healed from most of his major injuries, he had only a small smattering of tiny scars hidden beneath his puffy coat, though his adult guard hairs had started to grow in and he was looking more and more adult as time went on. He began to wander, gazing back over his shoulder towards the den. Well, he could find his own way home, right? And with that, he began to head off, to scavange a meal.
Vadimir was further down, away from the den. Situated by the river where he had left his catch from yesterday. He'd already feasted on the ram, and now he lay staring at his own reflection. Even after a nigh sleepless night, many things continued to whorl about in his mind, preventing him from fully relaxing. Why had the prior day's events bothered him so? Why had he grown to feel so mussed over an innocent bout of play? He had all the questions, yet none of the answers. Driving him mad and making even mundane thought a laborous chore. Ears flicked in direction of approaching pawsteps, and he turned to see none other than his kid, looking curious yet determined. Funny, what was this all about? Vadimir lifted his upper body, muscular legs pushing him up as he rose to a stand, addressing his son with a curt chuff. "Boy, vot are you doink?" Yusef sure looked eager, but for what exactly? Vad would stroll over with the intent to stand before the pup, gazing at him intently.
Yusef gazed over at Daddy, his expression a somewhat comical mixture of both confusion and determination. "Hungry." he stated lightly, honestly. Still a good deal smaller than Vadimir, it was very clear that he was going to be a rather large boy, if the size of his paws and chest had anything to do with it. His nose scrunched up a little, and he gazed at the half-devoured kill. His stomach rumbled loudly, clearly accenting his point of 'hungry', but he made no move for it. He knew better, after all. That wasn't his, he didn't earn it. Not that it stopped his hungry gaze from laying on it, or his mouth from drooling. Nubby butt tail gave a little wag. Well, it was MAYBE a bit too early to teach him hunting, but.... he seemed eager enough to work for it. He pointed into the wild blue yonder,"Foods." Yes, there was foods out there Yus, you just had to go GET it! ..You know, or stumble upon a dead thing, but that wouldn't give you any skills, now would it?
Nida was sound asleep and basking in the sun. Her body was sore, and not from a wonted beat-down .. but from play! Hooray! With her ears curled forward and nose crinkled, she raised her head without ceremony to watch the pup stroll away from the security of the den and somewhere else. Baited by curiosity, paws drug from underneath and find its footing with a stand to full height. Nida stops shortly as Vad cuts off the bold whelp and tossed questions her mind was sitting upon. Then glances back over to the young'un with a oh-of-course! look in her face, and she closes in on the two with a selfless wag of tail. "Is help needed?" she proffers, panting.
Vadimir listened to Yu's broken speech, tilting his head with a raised brow. So the pups were able to speak now, hmm? Well that was nice, certainly. Made his time of trying to decipher what they wanted easier. It was easier to see how the boy resembled himself, which was... odd to say the least. Seeing himself first in the river, and now in his child. It was a bemusing sensation, but he managed to feign a mask of normalcy. "Hungry, mm?" He snorted lightly, eyes flicking up briefly to spot Nida approaching from their home, clearly having tailed Yusef in his pilgrimege to find victuals. "Before you vorry about fud, you vill fight me. If you cannot stay alive from a confrontation vith me, zurely you cannot hope to catch anyzink vorth vhile." Yusef had survived the first beginning of Vadimir's atrocious temper. So how would he fair being under siege from his father when he was lasor focused? "For now you zould eat, Nida." Ear would flick toward the sheep. she'd earned a bit of food, why not. But now was the time for his children to earn their survival. "If you do not meet my zatisfaction, you vill not eat, and I expect you to zwim until your limbz are numb. And vonce zey are, you vill zen run ten laps from von zide of ze den to ze ozer, got it?" He'd await for Yusef to speak, ready to elaborate should he need to. If there was no necessity to capitalize on his instructions, Vad would be in a fighting stance and lunging for the pup in the blink of an eye.
Nida uplifted her head, higher than before, wolf attentive process most of what was said. There was nothing said or added on Nida's part, as Vad seem to whatever it is he's doing down pat here. A test of some variety was in order. Thankfully she was not subjected to the same cruelty as the children, which .. still were not of her concern. Muzzle angled down pointedly in the direction where Vad's ear motioned, and she parted from the pair to snag herself a nutritious breakfast. Yum yum. Shoving her head deep in the opened portion of the ram after a tearing a decent hole she began to eat her fill, ripping a chunk then chew contently. Rinse and repeat.
Yusef stared up at him, blinked, and tried to process his words. He glanced towards the water, then back towards the den, and puffed out his chest again. Okay. He had no idea how to actually fight properly, but he'd taken notes from before, when there was that scuffle between them all. He took a moment and gazed down at his own paws before spreading his legs slightly to square his weight and try to perfect his balance. He bent his knees and elbows slightly to lower his body, though he didn't know why. He just saw them do it, so he'd do it too. He didn't have to pin back his ears or tuck his tail, because he didn't have those! He also only had tiny milk teeth (though his adult incisors would be growing in soon enough!) but he was prepared to battle! Or, more likely, get tossed around by the face.Yusef's fur rose in an effort to make himself appear bigger and manlier, and one had to admit the kid had spunk. And then, Vad came at him! He wasn't really prepared for it--they looked slower when he was watching! But, to his credit, he didn't run. Instead, he hurried forward in an attempt to escape the snapping jaws, bouncing upwards and aiming to grab a hold of the larger male's cheek. Hopefully those sharp, needle-like teeth found purchase, and he got in a bite! Of course, it was also extremely likely that Vad could just shake his head and send him rolling back. Even so, he flailed his forepaws in an effort to smack Vad in the eyes or nose, growling all the while. To some, it may have looked like pointless puppy flailing, but to those that may have been more keen, they would be able to tell that, however primitive it was, there was a method to his madness.
Vadimir would have outright killed the kid had he tried to run. Nuh uh, that's not the kind of family they ran here. You wanna be a pussy, there were plenty of crappy canines to lump yourself for that nonsense. But as long as Yusef lived with his parents? That was the nono to end all nono's. Nida's acceptance of food wasn't taken notice of, because of course Vad was preoccupied with teaching his son how to make himself useful, to both himself and to his fathers. When the boy leaped and collided with the side of his face, Vadimir reared onto his hind paws just enough to wrap forelimbs around his son's quickly growing figure. Should he succeed, eyes would shut to prevent further irritation from Yusef's errant bitchslas, before entire tank of a body would fall, his aim to slam Yu against the ground, jaws snapping open to land a bite upon the underside of the pup's jaw. Should he succeed he'd thrash the child senseless mere seconds after impact, before intending to toss him away from himself. given weight, he'd not manage to throw him far, but just enough that Vad would give him a chance to catch his breath, before lunging at him again.
Yusef was still a baby, in the long run. He cried out in both pain and surprise as he was thrashed and slid across the ground then tossed away. But Vad was smart enough to know that since the whole purpose of this was 'earn your food', a broken jaw wouldn't exactly be condusive to that. He was rattled and addled, and his head was fuzzy and full of cobwebs. But still, he stumbled back to his feet, weaving momentarily as he tried to make sense of up, down, left and right, pain shooting through his jaw and face. Not broken, but punctured and bloodied. Oddly enough, it was the pain that cleared his head, a sharp throb suddenly making the world clearer again, and just in time, as Vad closed the distance between them. Yusef wrinkled his nose and squared his feet again. "..Okay..." he growled, determined. He dug his little nails into the dirt, and launched himself forward like a little rocket....right between Vad's legs! And then, with all the strength he could muster, aimed to headbutt him in either the stomach or godforbid the balls. He scrambled, hopefully out from under him before Vad could dip his head down to catch him--and hey, he had no tail trailing behind him to snap at! Huzzah! But Vad did. He jumped up, with every intention of latching onto his tail to hold on for dear life, hopefully pulling a chunk of fur out with him before he was likely flung off and away. He rolled, skidded to a stop, and hopped back up to come at him again!
Vadimir bounded toward his offspring, thoroughly enjoying the effort. It reminded him, not for the first time. Of how it felt to practice against Drak when they were puppies. And just like those days, Yusef had much to learn, though already he looked to be fully prepared to take the lot of it in full, and maybe even then some. When boy proceeded to try and launch himself between Vad's legs, older male snapped down, aiming for either the scruff or the loose skin of his shoulders, forelimbs locking in place about the underside of his sternum. Fast as he was, hard noggin of the child still managed to strike him nicely right dead center of his ribcage, causing him to growl out as air was forced out from his nostrils and maw, though he managed to hold on. As a knee-jerk reaction, or... hell the skirmish might have just made him horny, who knew. Vad began to hump his own son's face, to what end? Hell if he knew. It just felt right. How a spar could fall apart so quickly was truly a nod to just how switch sensitive Vadimir was. A trait that, hopefully for everyone involved, Yusef would not inherit from his father. Probably would, though, considering just how wacky their family already was.
Yusef's head slammed into daddy's chest and actually rattled him for a moment! OW. THAT WAS HARD. Sternums were there. Teeth sank into his nap and dragged him back until, of course, balls just slapped him in the face, repeatedly. He narrowed his little eyes, plopping his butt down and trying to wriggle free. I THOUGHT WE WERE FIGHTING, NOT SEXING. He struggled, but was, of course, unable to get free of his fathers' grasp. Buuuuutt he couldn't blame him, maybe. After all, he tried this weird hip-thrusting thing before, and it was actually pretty enjoyable! So, you know, maybe this was just Vad saying 'good job, fucknugget'. Yes, he'd like to think that.
Vadimir panted quite happily indeed, emitting a loud snort as he allowed his body to relish the oh so terrible act of violating his son's face. He was going to hell, of that there was no doubt. When Vad had gotten his rocks off, he'd release Yusef, short nubby tail wiggling to and fro most contentedly. Well, that hadn't been the exercise he'd been planning on with his kid, per say. But... begger's can't be choosers! Yes, that's the motto he'd go with, because otherwise he knew damn well there was just no validity to his actions at all. Other than the fact that he was a disturbed, sickly twisted man. He'd look at Yusef for a moment, watching and awaiting a response. Though, to be frank.... how did one actually respond to something like that. Really. Several awkward minutes later Vadimir coughed lightly within his throat, extending neck to give the pup a small lick to the top of his head. There, a touch of affection. That makes everything he just did, perfectly acceptable! "Good enough for now. Now, ve vill find you zomezink proper to zet your teeth against. I expect you to kill your prey az thoroughly az you vould an enemy." Though Vad was the more quiet of the two brothers, he was immensely passionate about any sort of physical activity. Glance would be cast to Nida before nodding toward Yusef, before Vad would rise and begin the trek toward the valley. Time to teach his boy to take down something impressive. Yes.
Yusef sort of would have liked to swim to clean himself of the conspicuious fluids that were his unborn siblings, buuuuttt oh well. He rose and followed Vad into the valley, shaking his head occasionally to try to get the ringing in his ears to stop. His jaw was likely going to swell and be rather unsightly for a few days, but there was no lasting damage for once. Either he was simply getting more resilient, or they saw enough potential in him to not outright murder him so soon. He also really would have liked to just bury his face into that carcass that Nida was sooooo slooowwwllyy savoring and eating. But...well, quality time with the adults was good too, so he supposed he couldn't complain. He blinked up at him as he listened to his words,"..We....kill...enemies." Yes, good job. You catch on fast, kiddo.
Zodiak had been scoping out the territory; touching up marks and digging random holes. The usual hohumm wolf business. Things were going well, his wounds were practically healed and he felt pretty good. Head was held proudly as he trotted--well almost pranced-- through the high grasses back toward the den. Boy paused as he picked up the scent of the ram vad had previously caught. His stomach growled, how long had it been since he ate? hrmm. He'd trot over to the location and first lay eyes on nida, happily filling up. Tail would sway and in his approach to the girl he took notice of a rather peculiar act. Head would tilt to the side as eyes gazed upon the rather akward bit of child molestation going on. HOKAY then. Eyes diverted back to nida and he'd move to her, nudging his nose into her side before shifting to face to plant several licks to her forhead and ears. Attentions turned back to vad as he was heading off on what seemed like another hunting trip. Zodi would whine excitedly and nudge nida, nipping at her ears "Come on, lets get something fresh" he'd plead, nudging her once more before trotting off to catch up with the peculiar hunting party before slowing and matching pace.
Nida observed the fight and the outcome arrive at its fruition: a good ol' romp from speckled marshmellow. Her face goes aside as if to give those two privacy. It seem the term bonding took on an entirely unique definition than she'd like to figure. Welp .. she isn't on the receiving end to brunt the humiliation .. so, that's the plus side. Little Oreo there didn't seem in the slight frazzled, and thus Nida remained unflapped. Filthy fur was fluffed when she garnered Vad's attention temporarily, and wondered what his look bespoke. Perhaps it was a silent invit-- oh, hello there. Tail squirms as licks were caressing forehead and folded ears, just as pleased to have his presence gracing her. A playful nip to his cheek fluff. Hurdur. Zod's insistence got a groan out of the already sated woman, impish eyes bunnyhopping to all three parties before dragging herself along. " But I'm fuuuuuuull .."
Vadimir sniffed the air and the ground alternatively, motions exaggerated to give better demonstration of proper tracking technique to Yusef. First you bent and scented low to the ground, gait long and lithe, making it easier to stop on a dime should prey be nearby. Then to pause, lifting head in the air, ears rotating and eyes peering in conjunction with the direction of one's snoz. Of course, Yusef didn't have ears to move about but... bah, he could hear just fine. Glances would take to the child, watching for his reactions, ready to correct his posture or elevation or motion until he was the idol picture of a hunter. Naturally speaking such a thing wouldn't even be thinkable at his age. But, of course, Vadimir didn't work on a regular thinking pattern. Attention paused to look back to find two stragglers, one Zodi and the other Nida. Well, unexpected help, hmm? "Und to vot do ve owe ze honor?" Vad would murmur quietly, gazing first to Zod and then to Nida. Low rumble in his throat Vadimir would be a signal to Yu not to allow himself to be distracted. While daddy talked, son better damn well be scenting and trying to find a suitable meal! "Ze lad vill learn to hunt for himzelf. He iz old enough to learn to take care of hiz own needz." The training practice was self evident, but the words were intended as a precaution. Yu was supposed to be tackling this on his own. He was offered all the guidance in the world, but when it came time to actually land a catch. There would be no holding of hands. "Vere have you been, Zod?" The question was non-hostile, purely curious in nature. He looked rather spritely, so Vadimir assumed wherever he'd been, it had been time well spent. But of course, that just made him all the more curious.
Yusef sniffs and tracks and generally obeys, being a good boy. =x
Zodiak whined at nida's refusal to tag along. He'd gently bite her muzzle before pressing face into her neck. With a wag of his tail he was off pacing quickly up behind vad. Attentions shifted to the mini pup tagging along. Either vad was going to show him how to hunt or vad was nuts and was going to make him hunt. oii. Zodi went silent as he shifted into hunting mode. His tail stiffened and dragged behind him, nose held low and scanning, head lifting every now and then to observe surroundings. Upon his check, he noticed vad had glanced to him and proposed question. "Should I not assist in feeding the pack?" he said quietly and lack of emotion. Hunting mode was zodi's favorite pasttime. It was one thing he knew he was fairly good at and hopefully vad would take notice. He flicked his ear at vads following comment and quickened his pace to stride beside him--opposite the pup. Zod would cast him a sideways glance, a little confused at what he had planned. "...What do you plan on having him hunt?..." he whispered, a hint of concern on his face. "Vad..." he sighed averting eyes to the ground "I know you want them to earn their own... but large prey.. its impossible..." There was no way on gods green earth that pup alone would take down anything larger than a hare, and that was if his stubby legs could keep up with it. Zodi knew it wasn't his place, but he hoped he could pass some clear judgement to the male.
Nida caught up to Vad and his near spitting image all while kept flank at Zod's side. Her eyes moved onto him, and a humorous simper wa ushered forth, " hopefully company." Maybe .. help out or something, she can't ascertain what would be requested of her person. She glanced over toward mister pretzel here going into hunter mode and a leer would be supplied in response. Nida was a hunter, however, it wasn't her favorite pastime. As any would guess, it was the play time and eating food that took residence on her priority list. The husky woman observes Zod approach Vad and say something to him, perhaps advise him on what wouldn't get the whelp killed on his first outing. A grim line dresses her scarred muzzle and she asserts herself near Oreo, nosing into the pup's torso a little roughly. Wasn't used to being mindful of her strength around a smaller, fragile creature not meant to be eaten. Hrm.
Vadimir watched Yusef intensely from furrowed brow, scrutinizing and judging his performance with overbearing precision. He was content to just watch for now, since Yu didn't appear to need any verbal guidance for the time being. How long that would last was anyone's guess, but it gave Vadimir ample time to direct attention to the others, whom seemed to be coming at him with one part worry mingled with intent and one part comical indifference. Jeez these folk were cray in their own right. "Do vatever you vant. Just don't interrupt ze boy'z lezzon." If Zod wanted to hunt, Vadimir wasn't about to stop him. Quite the opposite. But he wasn't going to let the kid be coddled for the sake of preserving an already ruined childhood. Thanks to yours truly. Figuring the conversation was over and done with, Vadimir moved back to watching the pup. that is, until Zodi spoke up again, and Vadimir slowly turned to gaze at the younger canine, the fur around his neck rising an inch from his skin. "Votever he decidez to pit himzelf against...?" The replying query was voiced in a deceptively soft voice, his expression stern as he watched the brown and tan male shift from worry to what looked to be discomfort. Was this guy veering toward something in particular? If so he'd have liked it if there was no beatin' round that bush. Dat's abuse to plants yo. But much to his surprise, Zodi did indeed voice his concerns in full, which, for a moment. Rendered Vadimir speechless, the silence that ensued being broken by the annoying breying honk originating from a nearby flock of geese. Then he inched closer toward Zod, allowing their muzzles to touch should his would-be adversary not remove himself from the contact. He allowed the contact for several minutes, in which time he delighted in simply watching Zod, while Vadimir looked as if carved from granite, his eyes twin crystals that shone with some pretty pointed emphasis. On what? Well, that was for him to say! "Und vot vould you zuggest mine offsprink hunt, Zod...?" Tone was kept low, just for the two of them, while jaws opened to slowly incase Zodi's muzzle within. The touch wouldn't be harsh, nor gentle, and he'd hold him in place for several moments before releasing. Depending on Zod's answer, Vad would turn to watch Nida's advancement, letting out a thick, throaty snarl. "Don't distract him." He murmured harshly, before recoiling, as if stung, and turned away from them both, going to once more shadow Yu's movements. A little off kilter today, Vad?
Zodiak trailed alongside Vad, keeping eyes low. He'd look over his shoulder to see nida and smile. Heyyy bby <3. Attention shifted to vad as he replied and zodi shook his head. "No intentions to interrupt... just to help" He sighed, continuing to listen to him. Zod saw that one coming. Actually, he would have been suprised if vad had actually heeded his advice for once. Yea.. that'll never happen. But since they wanted the pack to help with the pups, zodi was helping. Attentions had been turned away from vad momentarily until contact was made. Zodi stiffened and eyes shifted to the side to see the male staring at him... and touching him. Wth man...? There was a moment of akward silence as zod hoped the male wasn't getting any ideas before he chanced to pull his head to the side, slowing his pace ever so slightly to move out of reach of the crazie. He'd shift his gaze to nida, before sighing and padding on. Vad's question grabbed his sights once again, "I--" he broke off, not expecting vad to actually want to hear his opinion "theres always Hare...or..beaver.." Both good choices for a begining hunter. The pup may be vicious like his parents but the prey can fight back too, at least with those he'd be picking on something his own size.
Nida breathed 'indifference' from her lungs. Perhaps she had faith Vad has enough sense not to provoke Oreo to bite off more than he can chew .. She noticed the interaction between the men but said nothing. What could she say ..? Forcefully narrowing attention back on the whelp, her tail wags and she gestures with a motion of her muzzle toward a pile of feces. Her focus goes from the small kiddo and onto Vad and his throaty snarl, her hackles raising, teeth bared but tail remaining low. Would be damned to look like a wimp! " I was gonna tell him about .. droppings." It was awfully crucial to being a successful hunter, and to miss out on such an aspect would be devastating and downright negligent..! Recalling the sensation of drowning and an inch of life, she abates with steps drawing her in reverse. Sigh! What do.. " Porcupine?" A brain-teaser?
Vadimir stared Zod down with a, 'are you fucking with me right now' expression. Hare, beaver? NOT FOR MY BOY YOU DON'T. "He can handle far stronker zings zan putrid rats." He sniffed, glancing away dismissively as Nida spoke her reasonings for being so near Yusef. Expression would sour, but Vad, after a brief internal struggle, would give a jerky nod. As long as she didn't distract him.... then no harm permanently done. Then, watching Yusef work himself to find something viable, perhaps even taking cues from Nida as she instructed the child on the proper usage of feces. Vad looked back to Zodi, pouting grumpily before giving a shake of his pelt. "Bezides, he von't be handling anyzing... overly big, until he kin handle me or brat in battle." There, he wasn't TOTALLY bonkers... ahem. "Vhy don't you scout ahead und zee vot might vork for a first timer...." He grumbled, already moving forward to scout further, since Nida seemed to have the job of watching Yusef's progress handled.
Zodiak flicked an ear and sighed at his response. At least he wasnt 100% crazy. He relaxed a little and tensed back up at vads proposal. Of course! I'll just go then. Zodi sighed and glanced over to nida, offering her a smile -be back soon- before a quick lick was rushed to her cheek and he took off, banking to the left so that he could distance himself from vad. Zodi sulked for a moment. If his ideas of decent prey weren't good enough then what the hell was he going to find?! Nose lowered to the ground and he snorted, a sudden shift in the bushes catching his attention. He froze, cautiously side stepping as eyes peered into the brush. It was times like these he was grateful for his earthen-toned fur, he didn't blend perfectly but he didn't stand out. Sloth step was taken forward, eyes still searching for the source of the sound. Another shift; long and dragging. Head perked up and in that instant the boy lifted onto hind legs, springing into the air with only slight momentum forward. He'd angle himself and drop back down paws landing on the almost invisable black snake, holding it down close to the head leaving its body to flail. Ok this could be a challange. Carrying it wouldn't be an option, he'd risk killing it. Muzzle lifted to the skies and he let out a baying howl; one that would summon the others to him.
Nida, oblivious to the men's conversation as to what is the 'manly' way to teach Oreo, resumed guiding the pup concerning droppings and how useful they were as to gauge the distance of game after getting Vad's a-okay. She noticed how .. oddly accepting he was to letting others pitch in their help. This is .. new. She liked new. Nida yapped her mouth .. and then some, detailing of what scents belonged to which animal and describing them. Yadda yadda yadda. The woman turned in time to catch the smile and lick to cheek, quick to return her own with a nudge. Her eyes went toward Vad stalking off to find something as well ..? Too bad she missed the information privy between the boys-- she really wanted to know what they were up to, or decided upon. And not long afterwards, there was a howl belting out; Nida bounds off in the direction, but slowed so that Oreo can be afoot with her.
